About The Position

Daemen University is seeking an Animation History Adjunct instructor to teach two courses on the subject. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of animation history and its key figures. The courses will cover the context, culture, and technology of animation, exploring its practitioners, development, and aesthetic qualities. Students will examine how history is interpreted through animation, the evolution of tools and technology, and various animation techniques. The curriculum includes animation from diverse studios, feature films, and experimental shorts, with a focus on stylistic changes, the rise of television animation, the second golden age of Disney, and the advent of CG animation. The courses also address the shift in global culture from literary to visual mediums and the significance of conveyed imagery.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of animation history.
• Working knowledge of the figures involved in the art form of animation.

• Master's degree is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Teach two courses on Animation History (ANIM 201 and ANIM 301).
