About The Position

This is a part-time position (16-22 hours/week) located at the Vocational Rehabilitation; David Houston Center. The role involves instructing adult education classes and administering various assessments, including the WIN Career Readiness Credential and the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). The instructor will also support students in the Spartanburg County Adult Education Diploma program using the APEX Learning platform, monitor student progress, and ensure curriculum alignment with state standards. The position requires managing the classroom environment, maintaining accurate records, and participating in professional development. The salary is $30.00/hour.

Requirements

Current SC Teacher Certification.
Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
Digitally literate, with working knowledge of Office 365, Zoom/Teams, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Requires work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether like or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisor.

Responsibilities

Coordinate scheduling and provide WIN Career Readiness Credential classes at Spartanburg County Vocational Rehabilitation locations.
Coordinate scheduling and administer required assessments, including but not limited to the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and the WIN Career Readiness assessments.
Direct and evaluate learning experiences of students through effective planning and adequate preparation.
Monitor and support student progress for Spartanburg County Adult Education Diploma program using the APEX Learning platform.
Assist students with course navigation, assignments, testing, and technology use with the APEX Learning platform.
Monitor curriculum pacing and ensure alignment with diploma program requirements.
Ensure instruction and coursework align with applicable state adult education standards, high school diploma requirements, and College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) and make adjustments when necessary.
Work with Spartanburg County Adult Education Program Coordinator as the primary points of contact for APEX Learning implementation and troubleshooting.
Monitor student pacing and assignment completion through APEX reporting tools.
Manage adult classroom to provide an attractive and inviting educational environment.
Ensure proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies.
Execute school/site administrative policies and translate such policies to the community in a professional manner.
Prepare, present, and evaluate instructional materials.
Maintain accurate records, including attendance, and submit required data and reports in a timely manner.
Execute strategies to improve and maintain program outcomes.
Communicate pertinent information shared from the county office with the students and staff at the site, including, but not limited to, testing schedules, policy changes, and training opportunities.
Participate in a minimum of 15 hours annually of director approved local, regional, and/or state professional development activities as assigned.
Attend monthly instructional staff meetings at the Adult Education county office in Spartanburg.
Keep informed of new trends and research studies regarding Adult Learning.
Maintain positive and professional working relationships with colleagues.
Provide a model in mature behavior for adults, including, but not limited to, dress, punctuality, and polite communication.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education.
