About The Position

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a part-time Instructor for our Adult Education Program. This individual will provide high-quality instruction to adult learners seeking to improve basic academic skills, earn a GED® credential, or prepare for postsecondary education and employment. The instructor delivers standards-based instruction aligned to Adult Education and College & Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) while supporting students’ educational and workforce goals. This position is part-time/exempt. This position will begin approximately July 26, 2026. Please note the following information regarding this position: May be required to teach high school students May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County) May require travel

Requirements

  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work with diverse adult populations and maintain confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to use instructional technology and data systems.
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from a college or university, preferably in education or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching adults or working in adult education, workforce training, or related instructional settings
  • Teaching certification or Adult Education credential
  • Experience with GED® preparation programs, CCRS, or TABE‑based instruction
  • Experience using online instructional platforms and blended learning models

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and/or social studies appropriate for adult learners
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to College & Career Readiness Standards and program‑approved curricula
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, cultural, and learning needs of adult students
  • Administer assessments and use data (e.g., TABE or approved assessments) to guide instruction and monitor student progress
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, instructional records, and required documentation in a timely manner
  • Support students with goal setting, persistence strategies, and transition planning related to employment or postsecondary education
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes adult learner success
  • Participate in required professional development, staff meetings, and program trainings as scheduled
  • Comply with all programs, institutional, state, and federal Adult Education policies and procedures

Benefits

  • Pay rate is $25.00 per hour, no benefits.
