About The Position

The Part Sales role maintains and controls boat, motor, trailer, and ATV parts inventory and assists external and internal customers with parts purchases and questions. The role supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service and a pleasant, productive shopping experience. It performs customer service and parts transactions by phone and at the parts counter, manages inventory receiving and tracking, and handles returns, warranties, and inventory reconciliation.

The position performs tasks under general supervision using established procedures and innovation, choosing from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete assignments, and the employee often makes recommendations about work procedures, policies, and practices.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and percentages and make change for customers.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Good phone etiquette.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computer and perform data entry.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, world-class service and help create a pleasant, productive shopping experience for customers.
• Respond to customer inquiries about retail parts, price quotes, and general information by phone or at the parts counter.
• Research customer inquiries using Internet sites, manufacturer contacts, and on-site reference materials.
• Process parts sales by phone and at the parts counter.
• Safeguard funds and perform daily till reconciliation.
• Create purchase orders for stock, customer, or work-order parts and forward orders to the appropriate vendor.
• Receive ordered parts and verify shipping documents against the merchandise and quantities received.
• Enter received parts into the IDS inventory tracking system and place them in designated locations for easy retrieval.
• Verify full payment before shipping special-order parts.
• Issue parts to technicians and riggers according to work-order requirements and enter issued parts into IDS to track inventory.
• Verify and complete refunds for returned parts or cancellations.
• Return parts and warranty items to the appropriate vendor and ensure credit is received.
• Prepare for and conduct parts inventories according to established schedules.
• Report and reconcile inventory shortages or variances identified through physical inventory.
• Maintain a clean and professional work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
