About The Position

The Part Sales role maintains and controls boat, motor, trailer, and ATV parts inventory and assists external and internal customers with parts purchases and questions. The role supports a pleasant, productive customer experience by responding to inquiries, researching parts information, completing sales transactions, and managing inventory and related documentation. The position performs these duties under general supervision, following established procedures while using occasional independent judgment to resolve problems and recommend improvements to work procedures, policies, and practices.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts or percentages and make change.
• Ability to communicate with customers and associates in a friendly and professional manner.
• Good phone etiquette.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computer and perform data entry.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class customer service and help ensure a pleasant and productive shopping experience.
• Respond to customer inquiries about retail parts, price quotes, and general information by phone or at the parts counter.
• Research customer inquiries using Internet sites, manufacturer contacts, and on-site reference materials.
• Perform part sales transactions by phone or at the parts counter.
• Safeguard funds received and perform daily till reconciliation procedures.
• Create purchase orders for parts needed for stock, customers, or work orders and forward orders to the appropriate vendor.
• Receive ordered parts and verify shipping documents against merchandise and quantities received.
• Enter received parts into the IDS inventory tracking system and place merchandise in designated locations for retrieval.
• Verify and validate full payment before shipping special-order parts.
• Issue parts to technicians and riggers according to work order requirements and enter issued parts in IDS to track inventory.
• Verify and complete refunds for returned parts or cancellations.
• Send returned and warranty parts to the appropriate vendor and obtain credit.
• Prepare for and conduct parts inventories according to established schedules.
• Report and reconcile inventory shortages or variances identified during physical inventory.
• Maintain a clean and professional work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
