About The Position

Join our Parks & Recreation team and help deliver fun, engaging, and meaningful activities for the community! As a Parks & Recreation Associate, you’ll play a key role in planning, organizing, and leading a variety of programs and events—from youth activities and classes to special events and community gatherings. No two days are the same, and your work will have a direct impact on the experiences our residents enjoy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of prior relevant experience required.
  • First Aid CPR certifications required or must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and methods used in various recreational activities in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software.
  • Knowledge methods and techniques for record keeping and report preparation and writing.
  • Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to complete routine, non-routine, and sometimes complex tasks in a timely manner, following through on processes from end-to-end.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.
  • Ability to use good judgment and think rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to work under little supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
  • Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in administering recreational programs and/or participation in competitive sports is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Be a friendly, welcoming face for participants, families, and community members
  • Help plan and run exciting programs, classes, and special events
  • Lead games, activities, and classes for youth and other groups
  • Supervise participants to ensure a safe, fun, and inclusive environment
  • Set up and break down event spaces, activities, and equipment
  • Answer questions and assist with program registration
  • Support event logistics like scheduling, supplies, and site coordination
  • Track participation, complete reports, and help gather feedback
  • Train and guide new or part-time staff
  • Keep safety top of mind and respond confidently in emergencies
