About The Position
This is a part-time, temporary position within the Recreation Services department. The Parks Maintenance Worker - Mower performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled park maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include mowing and trimming park turf areas, raking, weeding, litter removal, and assisting with special event preparation, facility setup, and general park upkeep. Incumbents work independently on routine assignments under general supervision from the Irrigation Specialist, Parks Coordinator, and/or Maintenance Supervisors.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire
- Possess a valid Arizona driver's license
- Familiar with safely towing and maneuvering trailers as part of daily operational duties
- Able to perform physical work outdoors under all weather conditions
- Knowledge of park and turf maintenance practices and procedures
- Knowledge of the safe operation of mowing and landscape maintenance equipment
- Ability to operate mowing equipment, weed whacker, blowers, and other landscape maintenance tools safely and efficiently
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time in outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work independently with general supervision
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public
- Ability to follow safety procedures and department policies
- Successful candidate will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include: Drug screening, Motor vehicle records check, Criminal background screening
