The Parks Maintenance Worker performs responsible semiskilled manual work in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance assignments involving the use of specialized tools and small equipment; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. This position will be responsible for working at least one weekend day per week as their normal schedule.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Possession of valid Driver's License required.

• Some knowledge in the use of common and specialized hand and power tools required in the work.
• Some knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment required in the work.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Responsibilities

• Mows parks, public grounds and rights-of-way.
• Plants, maintains and trims plants and trees.
• Maintains athletic fields and facilities.
• Cleans and maintains park facilities and equipment.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the performance of tasks.
• Performs related tasks as required.
