About The Position

This position is responsible for performing various tasks related to the maintenance of parks, beach accesses, recreational structures, and related facilities. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including holidays and events, as Park Maintenance operates 365 days a year. Responsibilities include maintaining grounds, facilities, and ensuring safety and cleanliness.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) months previous experience and/or training involving general building maintenance, general building trades, road construction/maintenance, grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and/or maintenance work in area of assignment.
• Valid Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash and recycling containers and transport to designated areas.
• Mow and edge park grounds.
• Seed, fertilize, and water park grounds.
• Apply herbicide and pesticides as directed.
• Install, inspect, and repair irrigation systems.
• Prune/remove trees and shrubs.
• Dig holes/trenches and shovel/spread materials.
• Install/repair and paint fences, benches, and picnic tables.
• Remove litter and debris from park grounds, including picnic areas, barbeque grills, and cigarette butt receptacles.
• Remove any small dead animals within the parks.
• Supply dog parks with waste disposal bags and remove waste collection as necessary.
• Perform various custodial tasks in park restrooms to include sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces.
• Replenish restroom products (soap and paper goods).
• Visually inspect playground areas and equipment, and report any safety hazards to supervisor.
• Repair and paint playground equipment as directed.
• Patrol beaches and accesses for litter, debris, and safety hazards.
• Report safety hazards and any dead/injured wildlife to supervisor.
• Remove dead animals as directed.
• Inspect, report, and repair damage to beach access boardwalks and signage.
• Remove any beach chairs, umbrellas, or tents from the beach, according to county ordinance.
• Install sand fencing, if directed.
• Install/remove Mobi-mats.
