About The Position

The Parks Maintenance Technician 4 (PMT4) position is a unique opportunity to work on the widest variety of Park assets across the Pierce County Parks system. As a PMT4, you will have significant autonomy over your daily tasks and latitude to tackle unique maintenance problems, as well as larger, more complex trade-related projects, utilizing your background and expertise. PMT4s are the highest level of non-supervisory maintenance positions within Pierce County Parks. You will work both independently and as a team on projects that have been vetted and identified through the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP) Work Plan. Likewise, as a core team member, you will also be instrumental in vetting that project plan annually, providing recommendations, guidance, insight, and perspective alongside other members of your team. Pierce County Parks and Recreation manages more than 5,200 acres of parks, trails, and open space, ranging from community hubs to natural areas. We deliver diverse recreation programs and maintain the infrastructure that supports both active play and quiet connection with nature. Our department is made up of four divisions: Park and Recreation Operations, Business Operations, Volunteer and Resource Development, and Park Stewardship and Infrastructure Delivery, working together to serve one of the most dynamic and fast-growing regions in Washington. Requirements

• Four or more years of journey-level work experience in one or more of the building, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, construction, or related trade areas
• A valid driver’s license
• First Aid Certification/CPR
• Employees are subject to 24-hour on call availability and must be able to work any shift at any location as required
• Satisfactory physical condition is required as indicated by a County-approved physical examination
• As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs new construction and installation work such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical, HVAC, masonry or other trades work on County Parks and Recreation Services facilities and structures.
• Plans, organizes, and prioritizes various maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
• Oversees complex assignments through completion.
• Ensures project assignments conform to standards and code requirements.
• Determines materials, supplies, cost estimates for projects, and orders supplies and materials.
• Provides direction, assistance, and training to other parks maintenance staff assigned to specific project.
