Parks Maintenance Staff (Part Time/Seasonal)
About The Position
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Parks, Parks Foreman, and/or Crew Leader, Park Maintenance Staff will perform a variety of general park maintenance, including mowing, trimming, mulching, helping with athletic fields, tree trimming, special event setup, trash and bathroom maintenance, and snow removal. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative to achieve safe, clean, and well-maintained parks and facilities. The Glen Ellyn Park District is a local governmental agency serving all residents of the Village of Glen Ellyn and portions of neighboring communities. It provides a wide range of recreational services, athletics, and leisure activities to its citizens, with opportunities for all ages and abilities. Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- Valid IL Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Must be in good physical condition to perform manual labor in various weather conditions including high heat/humidity and cold
- Strong sense of safety
- Effective communication skills
- Desire to provide quality customer service
- Ability to work well independently and as a member on a crew
- Pass background check following an offer of employment
Nice To Haves
- Previous landscaping and/or maintenance experience
- Familiarity with the Glen Ellyn area
- General knowledge and use of hand and power tools as well as gasoline and electric powered equipment
