About The Position

Seasonal laborers will perform numerous duties as assigned to support the Public Works department. This role involves a variety of tasks to maintain city property and infrastructure, with a focus on winter-related duties such as snow and ice control, as well as general maintenance and repair tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• An excellent driving record.
• Ability to perform light to heavy physical labor, lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Previous experience performing physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment including but not limited to dump trucks, trucks with plows, small tractors, hand/mechanical tools and equipment, etc.
• Performs duties relating to street repairs, snow removal, ice control and tree trimming.
• Performs duties related to maintenance of public grounds including but not limited to snow removal, ice control and tree maintenance.
• Performs maintenance/construction tasks including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, welding, and mechanical.
• Performs duties including, but not limited to sign replacement and repair, placement of traffic control devices, tree trimming/removal, janitorial, compacting materials with hand or mechanical equipment, cleans and maintains City property and other related duties.
• Proper and safe use and maintenance of any assigned City vehicle, equipment, property, etc.
• Observes and practice safe work habits.
• Attends and maintains all division training and safety requirements to be legal, safe, and compliant with laws and regulations.
• Effectively coordinates activities with other public services staff.
• Actively participates and promotes all activities, duties, meetings, training sessions, etc. as a team member.
• Assists City departments, divisions, and outside agencies as directed.
• Functions as a team member with all City employees, and effectively interacts with all levels of City personnel.
• Represents the department to civic and other organizations, including a positive promotion of the department.
• Follows and disseminates all orders and instructions of the Streets and Parks Supervisor and Streets and Parks Manager.
• Complies with all legal requirements of the job.
• Adheres to all City and street division policies and procedures and requirements.
