About The Position

The purpose of this class within the organization is to monitor and enforce parking ordinances, rules and regulations. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures. The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

Requirements

  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate and interact with others; to understand and interpret safety instructions; and to respond to internal and external inquiries.
  • Ability to understand and comply with City and departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents.
  • Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives.
  • Operates a handheld computer and issues citations for parking and meter violations.
  • Operates and maintains an assigned parking patrol vehicle.
  • Assists (as needed) with meter maintenance repairs and collections.
  • Assists with the immobilization of delinquent violator vehicles per City ordinance and departmental policy.
  • Calls for a tow truck when necessary.
  • Completes all paperwork and documentation as needed for towing (per City ordinance).
  • Patrols parking buildings as necessary.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
