About The Position

The Office of State Parks preserves and interprets natural areas and important historical and scientific sites, provides outdoor recreation opportunities, and administers programs related to outdoor recreation and trails. This position maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of park buildings, rental facilities, grounds, and gardens. Guest occupancy is seasonally heavy, and the distribution of duties may vary throughout the year. The position is located at St. Bernard State Park in Braithwaite, Louisiana, and is a part-time Classified WAE appointment limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12-month period. Starting hourly pay varies depending on experience.

Requirements

No experience or training required.
Ability to regularly stoop, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, sit, stand, and walk.

Responsibilities

Clean the interior and exterior of park facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and washing.
Maintain cleanliness of grounds and facilities by collecting and disposing of trash and debris from campgrounds, cabins, the splash pad, and other areas.
Clean furniture and disinfect public restrooms.
Clean picnic areas, including tables and grills.
Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
Use ladders when required for work assignments.
Assist with upkeep of the site grounds, including gardens.
Clean grounds, gardens, and water features by collecting litter, debris, and trash.
Mow using zero-turn mowers; trim and prune using weed-eaters, pruners, and chainsaws; blow sidewalks with handheld and backpack blowers; weed flower beds and edge them; and change out plant material.
Perform weekly work orders, such as maintenance of vehicles, tractors, and ATVs, under supervision.
Assist in repairing broken equipment, water pipes, and furniture.
Perform other maintenance duties as determined by the Maintenance Foreman.
Perform other related duties as assigned and provide customer service to a high degree of excellence.
