Paraprofessional [Sped Sub/Sep. Aide, Sped Inclusion Programs] [Holland Tech] (Temporary Vacancy) (SY26-27)
About The Position
The Paraprofessional assists teachers in delivering an innovative, high-quality education program designed to meet the needs of Boston Public Schools students. The role works with school staff to help create an educational environment where quality and continuity support student learning. This is a temporary vacancy covering for a paraprofessional on leave. The position is expected to end on March 15, 2027, when the current paraprofessional is expected to return; the covering employee will then be terminated from the position. The role reports to the Principal/Head of School.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Forty-eight credit hours of college coursework, an associate degree, or a passing score on either the ParaPro Assessment or the WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants.
- At least two years of experience working with young children.
- Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
Nice To Haves
- An associate or bachelor's degree.
- Certification as a teacher or licensure as a social worker.
- Fluency in an official Boston Public Schools language: Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
Responsibilities
- Support direct instruction for children individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
- Assist with classroom activities.
- Prepare instructional materials.
- Assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
- Manage individual and classroom behavior using prescribed approaches.
- Supervise students during field-trip activities.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Head of School/Principal.
