The essential role of the Pre-Kindergarten Paraeducator is to assist the teacher with instruction responsibilities. This role involves interacting with, supporting, and encouraging children throughout the day, assisting the teacher in implementing daily routines, assessing student progress, and participating in curriculum planning. The paraprofessional will instruct students on the appropriate use of classroom materials, assist with classroom management and developing problem-solving skills, and help prepare materials for activities. They will also participate in school visits, assist with registration and screening, and attend staff development activities. The role includes working with individual, small, and large groups of students, ensuring they follow instructions, and providing instructional leadership when a substitute teacher is present. The paraprofessional must notify the principal of absences and maintain CPR certification. They will perform other duties assigned by the principal and Early Childhood Coordinator.
