About The Position

This position provides classroom support for 3 & 4-year-old children with and without special needs in an Integrated Pre-School program. Students will attend 5 half-day sessions, either AM or PM. Responsibilities include physical restraint, diapering, toileting, and lifting. A willingness to be trained in and use ABA Techniques and Data Collection is required.

Requirements

Strong desire to work with students in an urban setting.
Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
Ability to advocate for children to effectively problem-solve.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work with all stakeholders.
Willingness to be trained in and use ABA Techniques/Data Collection.
Physical Restraint/Diapering/Toileting/Lifting.

Responsibilities

Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills.
Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work.
Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
Alert the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student.
Communicate with the classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality as a licensed teacher.
