About The Position

The Paraprofessional- COACh Inclusion (Long-term Substitute) will assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. This role requires a willingness to be trained in Autism Spectrum Techniques, Data Collection, and Safety Care. • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with all stakeholders.
• Willingness to be trained in Autism Spectrum Techniques, Data Collection and Safety Care.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
• Alert the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student.
• Communicate with the classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
