About The Position

This position is for a Paraprofessional in the COACh 2-5 Classroom, serving as a Long-term Substitute for the 26/27 school year. The role involves supporting students with diapering, toileting, and lifting. Successful candidates must be willing to be trained in and utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Techniques, Data Collection, and Safety Care. The paraprofessional will also be expected to float between grade levels within the COACh Program. Requirements

• Strong desire to work with students in an urban setting
• Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
• Willingness to be trained in & use ABA Techniques, Data Collection, and Safety Care
• Willingness to Float between grade levels in the COACh Program

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud, storytelling, etc.
• Alert the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student.
• Communicate with the classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
