About The Position

This position is for a Paraprofessional in the COACh PreK-3 program for the 26/27 school year, serving as a long-term substitute. The role involves assisting teachers in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups. Key responsibilities include reinforcing learned material, assisting with strategy development, supervising independent work, checking assignments, and supporting large group activities. The paraprofessional will also be responsible for alerting the teacher to any program or student-specific information and maintaining confidentiality. This role requires a willingness to be trained in and use ABA Techniques, perform physical restraint, and assist with diapering, toileting, and lifting.

  • Willingness to assist with Physical Restraint/ Diapering/Toileting/ Lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
  • Alert the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student.
  • Communicate with the classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
  • Be trained in and use ABA Techniques.
  • Assist with physical restraint, diapering, toileting, and lifting.
