The job of the paraprofessional is to support the teacher-classroom in the development, implementation and monitoring of a program designed to enhance the success of students academically and behaviorally. This role involves supporting the mission and values of Joplin Schools, enforcing policies and regulations, and ensuring student safety and well-being. The paraprofessional will maintain professional relationships, communicate effectively, and provide excellent customer service. They will also comply with privacy rights, participate in professional development, and conduct official business professionally. Accurate record-keeping, problem-solving, and interpreting documents are also key aspects of this role. Essential functions include demonstrating communication and collaboration skills, implementing instructional strategies, reinforcing learned skills, meeting students' educational, behavioral, and physical needs, preparing for classroom instruction, implementing teaching techniques, behavior strategies, and modifications/accommodations. The paraprofessional will also model behavior interventions and classroom management strategies, respond to student needs, and carry out other assigned duties.
