About The Position

The Paramedic is responsible for delivering advanced emergency and non-emergency medical care and support. This role involves assessing patients’ conditions, performing advanced life support interventions, and administering medications as needed during transport. Paramedic will collaborate with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care. Key responsibilities include operating advanced medical equipment, documenting patient information accurately, and providing clear communication to patients, staff and facilities. Strong clinical skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential for success in this dynamic environment. The Paramedic will also participate in training and development initiatives to enhance skills and contribute to team excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS at time of consideration.
  • BLS certification.
  • PALS & ACLS certification issued by AHA or ARC.
  • Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.
  • Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.
  • Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
  • Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.
  • Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.
  • Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.
  • Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.
  • Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.
  • Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.
