About The Position

The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic works with firefighters and police to evaluate the situation. The role provides basic and advanced life-saving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with their training and level of certification.

Requirements

Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Paramedic certification.
Driver license.
Associate degree or certificate.

Responsibilities

Operate an emergency medical vehicle and respond to calls for aid in emergent situations.
Evaluate patient conditions to establish an appropriate course of treatment.
Provide emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated people.
Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.
Manage non-medical situations, such as crowd control and protecting a patient's valuables when necessary.
Lift and transport patients while ensuring they remain stable during transport.
Communicate patient data and condition to medical personnel at the emergency treatment facility.
Direct EMTs in providing patient care consistent with their training and certification.
