About The Position

The Freelance Firm is a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide remote, on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for client law firms. Due to increased demand, we are interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Florida Family Law & Civil Litigation Paralegal. Remote work hours will vary, but are expected to be approximately 10+ hours per week.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Paralegal with direct experience in Florida family law and civil litigation matters.
  • Strong understanding of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, family law procedures, court rules, and filing requirements.
  • Experience with e-filing through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal.
  • Strong calendaring and deadline-management skills.
  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and proactively move cases forward with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, petitions, notices, correspondence, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Supporting family law matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, alimony, modifications, and post-judgment proceedings.
  • Managing active family law and civil litigation files from inception through settlement, hearing, or trial.
  • Handling all phases of discovery, including drafting, responding to, reviewing, and organizing discovery requests and productions.
  • E-filing through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal.
  • Scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, and coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, judicial assistants, and court personnel.
  • Monitoring court deadlines and ensuring compliance with scheduling orders.
  • Conducting legal research and assisting attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, including exhibits, witness files, and trial binders.
  • Communicating with clients, handling sensitive family law matters professionally and compassionately.
  • Managing multiple active matters simultaneously.
  • Working independently and proactively moving cases forward with minimal supervision.
