About The Position

We are looking for a highly skilled Paralegal to join our Real Estate group. Working closely with our lawyers, you will play a key role in supporting complex transactions through title examinations, due diligence, and the preparation of real estate documentation. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism.

Requirements

Minimum five years of experience
Extensive experience in title review
Relevant degree
Bilingual written and spoken (French and English) given the firm's clientele, mandates, and international scope of the firm
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong internet research skills
Strong ability to manage priorities effectively
High level of autonomy, sound judgment, and attention to detail
Professionalism, integrity, and discretion

Responsibilities

Conduct title searches and prepare comprehensive summary reports
Perform searches across various registries, including the Land Register, Registre du domaine de l’État, Infolot, the Québec Enterprise Register, Corporations Canada, and the Commission for the Protection of Agricultural Land (CPTAQ)
Gather and analyze information related to property assessment, taxation, transfer duties, and zoning from municipalities and school boards
Review certificates of location and examine related plans
Draft a variety of real estate legal documents and agreements
Establish cadastral concordance
Prepare and coordinate access-to-information requests with governmental authorities (off-title searches)
Coordinate the issuance of owner’s and lender’s title insurance policies and review title insurance documentation
Support lawyers in due diligence processes and real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, and financing
Calculate property transfer duties and adjustments to municipal and school taxes
Register deeds and other legal documents with the Land Register
Remain current on developments in the field and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Perform other related duties as required
