About The Position

We are a Southern Florida non-profit pro bono law firm serving a diverse, multiethnic community across Broward County. Our mission is to provide high-quality, free civil legal advice, representation, and education to the disadvantaged of Broward County. With over 125 employees, including 50+ attorneys, we offer free services and resources on a broad range of civil legal issues impacting health, safety, and self-sufficiency. We help thousands annually to find their voice, regain control, and build a brighter future. We focus on education, litigation, and collaboration to expand access to justice and challenge adverse systems and policies. This position has immediate openings for two Paralegals responsible for assisting attorneys and managing case files, requiring independent work with professionalism.

  • Paralegal Certificate or equivalent on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities

  • Make calls to clients, the County, and opposing parties.
  • Respond to program queries.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Review court dockets for current cases.
  • Conduct background and eviction history searches.
  • Research rental properties and landlord ownership.
  • Conduct intake interviews.
  • Gather client financial information (tax returns, pay stubs, benefits) and update files.
  • Prepare basic budgets and intake summaries.
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents.
  • Deliver and file documents as needed.
