The Law Office of Bryan Fagan is a firm that excels in family, estate planning & probate, and criminal law matters. We have (14) offices in Texas: (2) offices in Houston (Corporate and The Heights,) and (1) office in Abilene, Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, The Woodlands, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, Fort Worth, Richmond and Galveston. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in family law to drive meaningful results for our clients, navigating them through their toughest chapters with professionalism and empathy.

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years of Texas Family Law paralegal experience, including divorce, child custody, child support, property division, enforcement and modification matters.
  • Confident preparing initial pleadings, discovery, agreed orders, and supporting attorneys at hearings, mediations and trials.
  • Proficient in e-filing across state court portals and current on local rules.
  • Skilled at calculating and tracking deadlines, formatting and assembling filings, coordinating service, and resolving rejected filings quickly and professionally.
  • Fluent in Clio/MyCase, Google Suite, or similar tools.
  • Comfortable managing digital case files, drafting and editing documents, tracking time, updating case notes, and communicating with clients and counsel via cloud-based tools and shared calendars.
  • Understands the line between legal information and legal advice and stays composed during emotionally charged litigation.
  • Able to de-escalate tense situations, maintain strict confidentiality, and communicate with empathy while protecting the firm, the client and the legal process.
  • A self-starter who mentors others and contributes to a collaborative culture.
  • Takes ownership of caseload, anticipates attorney and client needs, shares best practices, and helps build efficient workflows that keep the team performing at a high level.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of family law and EPG (Estate Planning/Guardianship) matters from inception through resolution.
  • Craft substantive pleadings, motions, and complex discovery responses with a high degree of technical accuracy.
  • Lead the discovery and inventory process, including tracing separate property funds and identifying "red flags" in complex financial affidavits or business valuations.
  • Partner with attorneys to curate trial exhibits, organize trial notebooks, and manage ongoing RFOs (Requests for Order).
  • Oversee court filings, maintain rigorous calendaring for hearings and deadlines, and ensure billable hours are captured accurately.
