This is a full-time, permanent position with a 12-month in-training program designed for internal AGO legal support professionals to advance from Legal Assistant 2 to Paralegal 1. The selected candidate will start at the Legal Assistant 2 classification, promote to Legal Assistant 3, and then to Paralegal 1 upon successful completion of the program. The position is located in Kennewick, Washington, within the Regional Services Division. This role is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). Salary progression will be based on internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and will follow Article 42.9 of the WFSE CBA or the AGO Salary Determination Policy. The position may also receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay if applicable. The Paralegal 1 staff provide essential support to Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) in litigation, trial preparation, and applying knowledge of court rules and procedures in civil and appellate matters. Duties may include analyzing facts, composing documents, scheduling and interviewing witnesses, researching legal issues, coordinating litigation preparation, tracking case status, and drafting legal notices.
