About The Position

Provides proactive supervision and support to students throughout the high school campus, including hallways, restrooms, outdoor areas, and other common spaces. Collaborates with school staff to ensure student safety, compliance with school expectations, and a positive school climate. Supports student well-being through relational engagement, consistent presence, and respectful guidance.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have earned 72 college-level credits from an institution of higher education, have a college degree, or be able to pass the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Assessment.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-energy or stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated skill in building positive relationships with adolescents.
  • Must be able to manage large groups of students in unstructured environments with authority, professionalism, and care.
  • Must be willing to move between locations or adjust schedule as needed to meet campus supervision needs.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain.
  • Consistent attendance and dependability required.
  • Willingness to assist students in need with patience and discretion.
  • Criminal history clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Within the first year of employment, complete the Washington State Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators provided by the District, as defined in RCW 28A.413.070, and continue to meet future requirements as mandated by the State.

  • Previous experience supervising youth or working in an educational environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise student activity in hallways, restrooms, lunch areas, and other high-traffic campus locations during class transitions, breaks, and before/after school.
  • Escort students to class, office, or other locations as needed to support safety and minimize disruption to instruction.
  • Utilize campus security cameras to monitor student behavior, support incident investigation, and proactively address safety concerns.
  • Develop respectful, trusting relationships with students to promote cooperation and reinforce a positive school culture.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, security personnel, counselors, and teaching staff to support safe and orderly conduct.
  • Assist in implementing behavior support plans and use de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Observe and report student behavior, safety issues, or potential conflicts to appropriate staff promptly.
  • Enforce school rules, expectations, and safety procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Support the security team with crowd control during passing periods, lunch, school events, or emergencies.
  • Maintain vigilance in all areas of the campus to deter unsafe or inappropriate behavior.
  • Provide social-emotional encouragement and positive reinforcement to students throughout the day.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, escorts, or incidents as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
  • Maintain district-assigned email account and respond to communications regularly.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure a safe, supportive high school environment.
