This role involves the safe and efficient operation of production packaging equipment, including automated case forming, packaging, and palletizing equipment. It also includes performing physical product hand-stacking (palletizing) operations in accordance with defined product pallet patterns, creating pallet tags, and verifying product codes. The operator will also be responsible for operating a forklift to transfer product and coordinating with the packaging and warehouse teams. Routine equipment adjustments, product reclaim, and adherence to safety and food safety guidelines are also key aspects of this position. This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, CQP, QAP, HACCP, SOP,5S, GMP, etc.).
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong technical skills, ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
  • Successful completion of background check.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated work history.
  • Good attendance is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safe and efficient operation of production packaging equipment to include automated case forming, packaging and palletizing equipment.
  • Perform physical product hand-stacking (palletizing) operations in accordance with defined product pallet patterns.
  • Create pallet tags and/or hold tags for finished products.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in detail without deviation.
  • Generate pallet identification labels in accordance to the production run schedule and customer specifications; this includes verification of case quantity, product, product ID and production dates.
  • Verify and record accurate product case quantities and perform accurate data entry inro ERP system (SAP).
  • Validate product codes in accord with code specifications and identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions.
  • Safe and efficient operation of a forklift to transfer product from the palletizing operations to the finished goods warehouse.
  • Coordinate with the packaging and warehouse operation team to ensure finished good inventory accuracy.
  • Perform routine equipment adjustments to include, but not limited to, change-overs, clean-up operations and equipment set-up.
  • Perform product reclaim and rework operations in according with reclaim guidelines.
  • Follow established occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Follow established GMP’s and Food Safety requirements.
  • Cross-train with other departments.
  • Perform good housekeeping within established housekeeping guidelines.
  • Comply with federal, state and local dairy food regulations.
  • Adhere to the Saputo code of Ethics, actively apply the Saputo Company Values and Workplace Climate Policy.
  • Other duties as required by management.
