About The Position

CHEP is hiring a Pallet Repair Operator for its Kilgore, Texas team. The role repairs and assembles pallets at a service center using a pneumatic nail gun and other production tools. The operator places pallets on a repair table, removes defective boards, replaces them, and nails the replacements into place. In the assembly department, the operator assembles stock boards according to the desired pallet type. The position also involves troubleshooting jams and performing basic saw maintenance.

The position is on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It pays $21 per hour, with weekly pay by direct deposit. The work is hands-on and physically demanding, with repetitive activity and lifting requirements. Work may take place in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, with possible exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Personal protective equipment is required.

Requirements

• Familiarity with operating and maintaining production tools such as pneumatic nail guns or other relevant tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to lift and carry 78 pounds for at least 63% of the work shift.
• Ability to push items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.
• Ability to pull items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.
• Communication skills, tool-handling skills, observation skills, time management, hand-eye coordination, and endurance.
• Ability to work flexibly in an ever-changing environment and willingness to learn.
• Essential language: English.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of previous experience working in an industrial, fast-moving setting with industrial machinery; preferred but not required.
• Spanish language skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Repair all pallet components according to repair guidelines, including removing and replacing defective boards.
• Assemble pallets by nailing stock boards together according to the required pallet type.
• Strive to meet daily production targets.
• Visually inspect pallets for defects or irregularities and ensure work meets repair guidelines and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot jams and perform basic maintenance on the saw.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment daily.
• Report safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
