About The Position
The Powder Coater supports an automated spray booth on an automated conveying line with a five-stage wash process. Using Gema spray guns, the employee applies powder coatings to aluminum extrusions and manually touches up areas missed by automated systems. The role focuses on producing uniform, high-quality finishes while meeting production targets and maintaining safety and efficiency standards. The Powder Coater works with a team of 7 to 15 operators and coordinates with the shift supervisor. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with potential overtime. The work environment includes exposure to chemicals, powder coatings, and machinery. PPE, including masks, gloves, and protective eyewear, is required at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise, consistent work.
- Familiarity with Gema spray guns and automated conveying systems.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with potential overtime.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience in powder coating or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist in operating the automated powder-coating spray booth using Gema spray guns.
- Manually coat and touch up areas missed by automated systems, and monitor coating thickness and coverage.
- Assist with the five-stage chemical wash process: degrease, rinse, zirconium conversion coating, rinse, and sealant.
- Prepare and hang aluminum extrusions on the conveyor line for coating.
- Inspect parts before and after coating, conduct routine quality checks, adjust spray guns as needed, and report defects or issues promptly.
- Maintain and clean spray guns and other equipment, following safety protocols and using required PPE.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Coordinate with the shift supervisor and team members to meet daily production targets and schedules.
- Support and guide new operators.
