About The Position

The Paint Technician paints vehicle body parts to quality standards. The role involves preparing work surfaces, matching and applying paint, and inspecting finished work for quality. The technician follows applicable factory, dealership, safety, and regulatory procedures while using Collision Center equipment and personal protective equipment. AutoNation offers training and OEM certification support, and potential career paths include Collision Production Manager, Collision Estimator, and Paint Team Lead.

Requirements

• At least two years of automotive experience.
• Valid in-state driver's license with an acceptable, safe driving record.
• Ability to operate an automobile.

Nice To Haves

• I-CAR certification, or interest in becoming certified.
• OEM certification, or interest in becoming certified.

Responsibilities

• Assess damaged areas and prepare them for painting, including removing rust and grease and masking parts that should not be painted or coated.
• Prepare color tint to match or blend paint color.
• Paint vehicles efficiently and to a high standard using a sprayer or brush as appropriate.
• Follow factory and dealership procedures when performing warranty work.
• Operate Collision Center equipment safely and productively, following AutoNation safety standards for personal protective equipment.
• Inspect craftsmanship and identify runs, sags, or unpainted areas.
• Mix paint and chemicals according to manufacturer directions and specifications.
• Follow federal, state, and local regulations affecting Collision Center operations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA guidelines.
• Develop product knowledge to provide high-quality repairs.
