About The Position

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Paint Injection Molding Process Technician for their 1st shift operations. This role involves troubleshooting equipment, optimizing paint spray patterns and efficiencies, ensuring high-quality part production with minimal material loss, and performing setups and maintenance on secondary equipment. The technician will also be responsible for identifying and resolving paint-related issues, maintaining paint equipment, ensuring safety, and providing guidance to maintenance personnel. Additionally, the role includes accountability for a 5S zone, acting as a backup for paint line positions, performing RTO back outs/audits, and submitting suggestions for process improvements. The position is permanent and located in Gaffney, SC.

Requirements

  • LOTO Authorized Training required
  • Forktruck Authorized Training required
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of paint line/equipment experience.
  • Able to perform duties of all positions in paint area.
  • Good knowledge of paint equipment / processes
  • Good knowledge of hand tools and hands on maintenance
  • Good human relations – ability to work closely with others
  • Knowledge of parts and rebuild procedures on paint equipment
  • Able to perform under any given working conditions.
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensively troubleshoots equipment, establishes, and monitors optimum variegated paint spray patterns and equipment efficiencies.
  • Submits good quality first piece start-ups and strives to improve the quality and stability of the overall paint process.
  • Cycles and starts up all equipment in the least amount of time to achieve a top-quality part with a minimum amount of material loss through reject parts.
  • Strives to keep all operators and equipment performing at the highest possible efficiency without rejects.
  • Performs set-up of secondary equipment, such as glue machines, reciprocators, strapping machine, shrink film heat tunnel and reciprocators.
  • Maintains secondary equipment location system, cleanliness of equipment, and performs preventive maintenance as required.
  • Pinpoints and determines paint problems and eliminate or correct as fast as possible.
  • Provides proper care of all paint equipment such as cleaning of equipment, following tagging procedures, trouble shooting of maintenance issues, painting/rebuilding equipment to keep condition in good status and communicate needs to the supervisors.
  • Follows up daily on maintenance work orders.
  • Always safety-minded and eliminates or reports all safety problems to supervisor at once.
  • Always put self and all other employees’ safety first.
  • Provides guidance to maintenance personnel regarding machine and secondary equipment malfunction issues.
  • Takes accountability for assigned 5S zone.
  • Leads and achieves results in respective 5S zone.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with 5S team to achieve results and to implement countermeasures to sustain results.
  • Performs duties as a backup for all positions on Hoshin/paint lines.
  • Performs RTO back outs/audits as needed.
  • Performs assigned preventive maintenance on all paint equipment.
  • Reacts to paint department downtime with urgency.
  • Submits suggestions for improvements on efficiency, cost savings, packaging, etc.
  • Assists shift supervisor with other duties as needed.
