Mindrift is conducting an in-person research study exploring how people communicate and interact in everyday group conversations. Adults in the Santa Clara Valley (South Bay), California area are invited to participate in a paid, guided conversation session. People from all backgrounds, with different accents and first languages, are welcome; no special or previous experience is required. Participants check in with an on-site coordinator and join a group of 2–4 people for a conversation led by a trained moderator. Discussions cover everyday, non-sensitive topics. Each session lasts about 90 minutes and is recorded on video and audio for research purposes. Participation is voluntary and covered by a signed consent form explaining what is involved and how recordings are used and stored. Participants may ask questions or withdraw from the study. Eligible participants must be 18–64, live in or be able to travel to Santa Clara Valley, be comfortable conversing in English and being recorded, and be able to attend one in-person weekday session between November 2026 and March 2027. Participants must not have taken part in the study before and may participate only once. Compensation is $110, paid through Mindrift after the session; travel costs are not covered. To apply, register on Mindrift and complete a short screening questionnaire. Eligible applicants will be invited to book a session.
