About The Position

The Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Rental Lead role is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences on the water while maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment care. This position combines instruction/guiding, guest service, equipment management, and oversight of daily operations, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy leading a department, working outdoors, and engaging with guests in an active environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Prior water guiding experience
  • Ability to demonstrate strong swimming skills and comfort on the water
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry paddleboards and equipment
  • Schedule includes weekends, holidays, and peak summer periods

Nice To Haves

  • Prior paddleboarding, boating, or outdoor recreation experience preferred
  • Paddleboard or paddling instruction certification preferred
  • Utah Mussel-Aware Certification (Aquatic Invasive Species prevention) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, professional service to all guests participating in paddleboard rentals
  • Provide instruction for individuals and groups
  • Deliver basic SUP guidance with rentals, including safety briefings, paddling techniques, and basic on-water guidance
  • Ensure all guests are properly fitted with required safety equipment, including U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jackets
  • Oversee daily operations of SUP rentals, communicating with retail management any guest feedback, needs, or concerns
  • Assist with launching and retrieving paddleboards
  • Maintain rental equipment, including cleaning, inspection, and proper storage
  • Enforce all Deer Valley and state safety policies and procedures
  • Complete incident reports and communicate any safety concerns promptly
  • Adhere to all Utah boating and water safety regulations
  • Follow aquatic invasive species protocols, including cleaning and draining equipment between uses
  • Maintain awareness of emergency procedures and assist in response situations as needed
  • Complete and maintain proper documentation, including liability waivers and incident reporting
  • Support daily setup and breakdown of rental operations
