About The Position
The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for caring for patients during the pre-operative phase and in Phase I and Phase II recovery. Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and patient care during the post-anesthesia period. Knowledge of critical care skills is essential for assessing incision sites, monitoring body temperatures, and tracking other indicators of patient stability or complications.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a critical care RN (ER & ICU experience may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience).
- Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Current professional license within the state of practice.
- Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved medical/religious exemption required before contract start date.
Nice To Haves
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential recommended and may be required for specific roles.
- Other specialty-related certifications (e.g., NIHSS & TNCC) are preferred and may be required for specific positions.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients recovering from surgery.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patients for complications.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills in patient evaluations.
- Collaborate with surgical and medical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
