About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a full-time Pediatric Registered Nurse for their PACU. This position is scheduled for days with no night or weekend assignments. The Surgical Services Unit consistently ranks in the highest percentiles for patient satisfaction, and the nursing expertise will contribute meaningfully to the lives of pediatric orthopedic patients and their families. The nurse will join a team of healthcare professionals made up of colleagues, orthopedic surgeons, and leadership.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in nursing (ADN)
  • RN license in state of practice (SC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), obtained within one year of employment as required by hospital

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
  • 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital
  • Pediatric and/or orthopedic experience

Responsibilities

  • The coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in the operating room.
  • Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Will function within the Shriners Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN.
  • Provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.
