About The Position

Corewell Health is offering a Registered Nurse (RN) position in Surgery Suite 100 at Royal Oak Hospital. Surgery Suite 100 is a fast-paced operating room environment with 9 ORs, specializing in ophthalmology, podiatry, sports medicine, hands, breasts, microvascular plastic reconstruction, reconstructive plastics, general surgery procedures, and robotic surgery. The unit provides care for both pediatric and adult patient populations, utilizing a teamwork approach with RNs, Surgical Technologists, and Surgery Support Staff to deliver compassionate, patient-family centered care while supporting surgeons and anesthesia providers. Patient safety is a primary focus. On-call duty is required for this role. Royal Oak Hospital is recognized as a top hospital in Michigan and the country, serving as a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations, and has achieved Magnet designation four consecutive times. The RN, operating under the ANA scope of practice, will use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients, providing professional nursing care that incorporates patient-family centered care principles. The RN delivers quality patient care according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. This includes partnering with patients and families to plan care and developing teaching strategies, documenting education and learning appropriately in the health record.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire from one of the following organizations - American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
  • 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • ICU, ER or PACU experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge
  • Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures
  • Recognize the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes
  • Partner with and utilize patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care
  • Develop teaching strategies for patient/family
  • Document education and learning appropriately in health record
