About The Position

The Packing Manager oversees packing operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely shipments of aluminum extrusion products. This role manages the Packing Team, optimizes processes, and maintains safety and quality standards to meet customer requirements and company goals. The manager focuses on improving on-time delivery through proactive planning, coordination, and communication across departments. The role directly manages and develops the Packing Team, oversees schedules and task assignments, and ensures orders are packed and labeled according to customer specifications. It coordinates with the Manager, Planning & Logistics, Logistics, and Production to prepare materials for pickups and deliveries, optimize loads, track inventory and records, and quickly resolve operational issues. The Packing Manager also oversees safe loading and packaging quality, monitors delivery performance, identifies process improvements, and maintains regulatory and company-policy compliance in a clean, organized, hazard-free work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in packing, shipping, or warehouse operations; manufacturing experience preferred.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
Strong knowledge of packing, shipping, and/or logistics procedures.
Ability to read and interpret shipping documentation and customer orders.
Proficiency using computers and inventory or shipping software.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to stand, walk, and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in an industrial environment with extreme seasonal temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in hot or cold temperatures, including outdoors.
Use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed shoes, ear protection, and other necessary equipment.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Forklift and crane certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Directly manage the Packing Team and align daily operations with production and customer requirements.
Train, coach, and provide performance feedback to team members.
Oversee work schedules and timekeeping, and assign tasks to maintain productivity.
Ensure orders are packed and labeled accurately according to customer specifications.
Coordinate with the Manager, Planning & Logistics to ensure materials are ready for on-time pickups and deliveries.
Monitor performance metrics and drive improvements in on-time delivery rates to Shipping.
Work with Logistics and Production to anticipate needs and resolve issues quickly.
Maintain accurate inventory tracking and packing records.
Ensure safe and efficient product loading using cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
Verify packaging quality, integrity, and compliance with company and industry standards.
Coordinate load planning with the Manager, Planning & Logistics to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and delivery performance.
Identify opportunities to improve packing processes.
Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Ensure the work environment is clean, organized, and hazard-free.
