About The Position

The Packing Manager oversees Packing operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely shipments of aluminum extrusion products. The role manages the Packing Team, optimizes processes, and maintains safety and quality standards to meet customer requirements and company goals. The Packing Manager focuses on improving on-time delivery through proactive planning, coordination, and communication across departments. The role directs daily packing operations, trains and coaches team members, provides performance feedback, manages schedules and timekeeping, and assigns tasks. It ensures orders are packed and labeled according to customer specifications, inventory and packing records are accurate, and products are safely loaded. The Packing Manager coordinates with the Manager, Planning & Logistics, Logistics, and Production to prepare materials for pickup and delivery, plan loads, resolve issues, and improve delivery performance. The position also identifies process improvements, maintains regulatory and company-policy compliance, and ensures a clean, organized, hazard-free workplace.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 3–5 years of experience in packing, shipping, or warehouse operations; manufacturing experience is preferred.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
Strong knowledge of packing, shipping, and/or logistics procedures.
Ability to read and interpret shipping documentation and customer orders.
Proficiency using computers and inventory or shipping software.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to stand, walk, and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to seasonal heat, humidity, cold, noise, and moving equipment.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
Packing, shipping, or warehouse operations experience in manufacturing.
Forklift and crane certification.

Responsibilities

Directly manage the Packing Team and ensure daily operations align with production and customer requirements.
Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
Oversee work schedules and timekeeping, and assign tasks to maintain productivity.
Ensure orders are packed and labeled accurately for shipping according to customer specifications.
Coordinate with the Manager, Planning & Logistics to ensure material is ready for on-time pickups and deliveries.
Monitor performance metrics and drive improvements in on-time delivery rates to Shipping.
Work with Logistics and Production teams to anticipate needs and resolve issues quickly.
Ensure inventory tracking and packing records are accurate.
Ensure safe and efficient product loading using cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
Verify packaging quality, integrity, and compliance with company and industry standards.
Coordinate load planning with the Manager, Planning & Logistics to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and delivery performance.
Identify opportunities to improve packing processes.
Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
