About The Position

Sonoco is seeking a Packer II for its Plug Plant in Hartselle, Alabama. The position works second shift, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., at a pay rate of $21.53 per hour plus a $0.75 shift differential. The Packer II wraps, protects, and packs machinery, equipment, and other items; prepares and identifies containers; and weighs, transports, stacks, or arranges products and packed containers. The role also involves applying heat-shrink materials and assisting with maintenance and repairs as needed. Work must follow established safety procedures, and the employee monitors product quality and reports defects or malfunctions to supervisors.

The role requires the ability to read, write, and speak English and to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and move quickly. The work environment may involve exposure to noise, vibration, heat, cold, chemicals, greases, and lubricants. Responsibilities

• Wrap, protect, and pack machinery, equipment, and other items.
• Band, seal, glue, nail, label, and stencil crates and other containers with appropriate identification.
• Weigh, transport, stack, or arrange products and packed containers.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Monitor product quality and report defects or malfunctions to supervisors.
• Apply heat-shrink materials to tubes, pipes, or other items to reduce their diameter.
• Assist with maintenance and repairs as needed.
