About The Position

The Packaging Support role is accountable for support duties associated with operating the machines and conveyor systems. Support duties include resetting/starting machines, reporting issues to supervisor, removing product from conveyors, ensuring packaging materials are set-up, adjusting weight, and setting up the tank and ensuring product meets quality standards.

Requirements

  • Moderate level of walking while tending to various machines in the production line.
  • Ability to react quickly to product jams and machine malfunctions.
  • Ability to ascend/descend various types of ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to move oneself into different positions in various environments (sometimes tight).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel.
  • Ability to reach for product.
  • Ability to walk moderate distances on concrete floors.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate with others via voice, listening and verbal response.
  • Ability to read and write to receive instruction, document work and heed safety warnings.
  • Ability to repeat motions with the wrists, hands and fingers.
  • Ability to operate machinery and digital controls.
  • Ability to visually inspect work in near/distant scenarios including need for peripheral vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Supports machine operators with resetting/starting machines and removing product from conveyor.
  • Adjusts weight on the conveyor as needed with direction from the machine operator.
  • Assists with setting up the tank and ensuring product meets quality standards.
  • Ensures packaging materials are set-up and ready for machine operation.
  • Ensures issues with the machine or potato quality is communicated to the supervisor.
  • Provides back up support in the finished goods cooler following all food and safety guidelines.
  • Follows all safety protocols and Food Safety guidelines.
  • Participates in the Lead Safe Program.
  • May grade as needed - refer to grader Grader Job Description).
  • Ensures a clean work area by ensuring area is sanitized and floor is swept of debris.
