Overnight Youth Care Worker
About The Position
The Overnight Youth Care Worker supervises clients during sleeping hours to ensure their safety and security. The role also assists with the morning wake-up routine by educating, guiding, and directing clients in ways that promote their growth and development. The position includes interacting with clients, monitoring and documenting client locations and behavior, conducting security checks, and communicating with coworkers and the night supervisor. Employees are expected to support Abraxas's philosophy and mission and use Safe Crisis Management techniques appropriately. Paid training is provided.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Criminal clearances, including Act 33 and 34, applicable state and child clearances, and FBI clearance if necessary.
- Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
- Valid driver's license from the employee's state of residence.
- Valid registered vehicle insurance.
Responsibilities
- Interact meaningfully with clients.
- Complete security calls to the night supervisor.
- Maintain regular communication with coworkers.
- Supervise the morning routine, observe client behavior, and intervene appropriately.
- Ensure client location.
- Conduct and document random, unpredictable head counts and bed checks at least once every twelve minutes, using the Guard I system.
- Conduct outside building security checks.
- Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promote the Seven Key Principles of care.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.
