About The Position

The Overnight Security Officer oversees the safety and security of Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) employees and guests. The officer is expected to remain visible, take a proactive approach to preventing disturbances, patrol property, assist employees and guests with room access, and respond to alarms and disturbances. The role also involves documenting activities and irregularities, investigating security incidents, contacting police or fire departments in emergencies, and maintaining positive relationships while safeguarding confidential information about TRMF, guests, and staff.

The overnight shift runs from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., six nights per week. The position has no supervisory responsibilities and is based in Medora, North Dakota.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
• Authoritative verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to learn the layout of the properties and buildings.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Valid U.S. driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of five years of security experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol all areas of the property.
• Assist employees and guests with room access.
• Respond to alarms or disturbances at TRMF properties.
• Defuse employee and guest disturbances and call for outside assistance when needed.
• Document activities and irregularities in concise security reports.
• Conduct investigations of security incidents.
• Call police or fire departments in emergencies.
• Interact with guests, co-workers, and management in a manner consistent with TRMF values.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding TRMF information, guests, and staff.
