BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to join its busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Malvern, PA. Requirements

  • Experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician
  • Qualified LVT, CVT, RVT, LVMT, or VTS
  • Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
  • Ability to triage emergency cases including obtaining vitals
  • Ability to perform digital radiography using proper technique and proper patient positioning
  • Complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation)
  • Ability to obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues
  • Ability to identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
  • Ability to properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
  • Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels
  • Ability to place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
  • Passion for mentoring and training other co-workers
  • Patience and empathy to address client concerns

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
