BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to join its busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Malvern, PA. Requirements
- Experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician
- Qualified LVT, CVT, RVT, LVMT, or VTS
- Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
- Ability to triage emergency cases including obtaining vitals
- Ability to perform digital radiography using proper technique and proper patient positioning
- Complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation)
- Ability to obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues
- Ability to identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
- Ability to properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
- Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels
- Ability to place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
- Passion for mentoring and training other co-workers
- Patience and empathy to address client concerns
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
