About The Position

Visiting Angels of Abilene is hiring an Overnight Caregiver to support senior adults and home-care clients throughout the Big Country area, including Buffalo Gap, Tuscola, and Hawley. Caregivers help clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary according to client needs and may involve personal care, light housekeeping, exercise, medication reminders, shopping, meal preparation, and mobility assistance. Caregivers must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The position offers part-time, PRN, and short-shift options, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion for vulnerable people and an interest in providing meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond quickly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
