About The Position
The Overhead Crane Operator & Steel Material Handler supports yard operations by safely and efficiently moving structural steel. The hands-on role includes operating overhead cranes and Pettibone equipment, unloading trailers, and repositioning trailers around the yard. Training may be available for candidates with relevant equipment experience. This is a full-time opportunity in Richmond, Virginia, on 2nd shift. Starting pay is $22.00 per hour, with higher pay potentially available depending on experience, plus a $3.00-per-hour shift differential.
Requirements
- Experience operating overhead cranes and handling materials.
- Experience loading structural steel with an overhead crane is required.
- Willingness to learn additional equipment and procedures.
- Dependable attendance, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with some or all of the listed equipment is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Operate overhead cranes to load and move structural steel.
- Use Pettibone equipment to transport steel around the yard.
- Unload incoming trailers and assist with material handling.
- Move trailers around the yard as needed.
- Follow safe operating procedures and maintain reliable attendance.
- Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
