2nd Shift Overhead Crane Operator/Material Handler for Steel Service Center

About The Position
The Warehouse / Overhead Crane Operator performs warehousing duties according to the Company’s storage plan. The work includes verifying materials against receiving and shipping documents, reporting discrepancies or obvious damage, routing materials to storage locations while protecting materials and employee safety, rearranging and inventorying stored materials, inspecting stored materials for deterioration or damage, and retrieving and preparing materials for shipment. The operator may use equipment to stage, locate, or process material for shipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, and orders.
- Good reading, writing, and math skills as measured by a pre-employment test.
- Ability to recognize different colors.
- Ability to work as a team member without close supervision to meet Company and personal goals.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, required for 95% of the workday, including lifting up to 50 pounds independently, pushing, pulling, standing, and climbing.

- Previous shipping and receiving experience.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Forklift experience.
Responsibilities
- Accurately locate and identify stock for storage and retrieval, using a scanner when appropriate.
- Safely operate related machinery and equipment.
- Identify, scan, and process paperwork necessary for material handling.
- Load and unload trucks and verify loads against delivery tickets and scanner records.
- Tag, band, and package material for shipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Be helpful and courteous to customers and employees.
- Perform other related or assigned duties for the benefit of the Company.
- Maintain good attendance.
- Verify materials against receiving and shipping documents and report discrepancies or obvious damage.
- Route materials to prescribed storage locations using methods that protect materials and employee safety.
- Rearrange and inventory stored materials; inspect them for deterioration or damage.
- Remove materials from storage and prepare them for shipment.
