About The Position

Altom Transport is seeking dedicated and professional Over The Road CDL A Owner Operator Tanker Drivers to transport liquid bulk materials across the country. The role involves extended time on the road, typically 7 or more consecutive days, with home time planned according to operational needs and driver preferences. Drivers operate as independent business owners and partners in the company’s operation, with flexibility to maximize earnings while meeting safety and service standards. The role requires maintaining a steady workload by meeting mileage or hour requirements and being available 24/7 when needed. Drivers haul chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers and are responsible for their equipment, loading and unloading procedures, regulatory compliance, documentation, and professional customer interactions. They also manage fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling. Altom Transport provides safety and compliance programs, training, emergency-response resources, and personal protective equipment. Compensation includes a share of freight revenue and fuel surcharge, with additional programs and discounts.

Requirements

Valid CDL Class A license.
Tanker endorsement (N) required.
Minimum of 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience; the driver vetting process specifies at least 2 years of verifiable tanker experience within the last 5 years.
At least 23 years of age.
Clean MVR and strong safety record.
Able to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently.
Willingness to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations when needed.
Late-model equipment that meets Altom’s inspection standards.
No DUI/OWI on record within the last 5 years.
Cannot be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
No at-fault or preventable fatal or rollover accidents in the last 5 years.
No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months.
No falsification on the driver application.
Must hold a current X endorsement.
Complete a minimum of 1 week of in-person new-hire training.
Attend quarterly mandatory safety meetings.

Nice To Haves

Hazmat endorsement (H) is preferred; it must be obtained within 90 days of hire, with assistance available.
TWIC card is preferred, or must be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities

Safely haul chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers while adhering to DOT regulations.
Ensure the truck meets inspection standards and remains in good condition for long-haul operations.
Follow appropriate loading and unloading procedures for ISO/Flexi-Bag or tanker operations at loading and delivery points.
Maintain accurate logs, submit required paperwork, and comply with Hazmat regulations.
Represent Altom Transport professionally at customer locations.
Manage fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling to maximize revenue.
Meet mileage or hour requirements to maintain a steady workload.
Be available for 24/7 operations when needed.
